STEP 1:

COOLIEF^† Cooled RF uses a device called a radiofrequency generator. The probe is placed in the part of the body in pain, such as the knee.

STEP 2:

The RF generator transmits a small current of RF energy through a probe. Charged molecules then produce friction in the surrounding tissue, which causes heat. The heat ablates, or burns, the nerves that are sending pain signals to the brain.

STEP 3:

Now the nerves are deactivated and will stop firing signals to the brain. The pain stops. Over time, the nerves regenerate.
